What is Hand Pallet Wrap?
Hand pallet wrap is a type of polythene film that is highly stretchable. Supplied on rolls 400mm or 500mm wide. It is used to wrap products and secure them to the pallet for storage or transportation. It is a multi-purpose product that serves many industries.
What does flush core or extended core hand wrap mean?
The core of a hand wrap roll is the cardboard tube that the film is wrapped around.
On some hand wrap rolls, the end of the core is flush to the end of the film. Hence the name, flush core stretch wrap
Extended core hand film means that there is no need for a dispenser to be used, as the core sticks out 75mm each end of the roll.
When is hand stretch film used instead of machine stretch film?
Hand pallet wrap is suitable for low to medium volume pallet wrapping, or where space or capital investment is not available to purchase a pallet wrapping machine. If you are wrapping less than 10plts a day, hand pallet wrap could be a good option.
What is the difference between cast and blown film?
Blown stretch film:
- is very resistant to puncture
- has higher levels of cling
- makes more noise unwinding
- is normally more expensive than cast
- produces less manufacturing scrap
- is more durable and provides maximum toughness
- has a much higher degree of memory
Cast stretch film:
- is clearer & shinier on a load
- unwinds quieter
- has better tear resistance
- is normally cheaper than blown
- is an excellent barrier for moisture, gases and aromas

These wraps are the traditional specifications – cast or blown and defined by the exact micron (thickness) that they are made to. The only recent change has been the addition of recycled content.
With the introduction of performance films, the applications where its correct to use standard pallet wraps are closing down quickly. In some cases, in where usage is very small or the product in question is particularly unique.
The introduction of Performance Hand Wrap’s has largely closed out requirement for standard hand wraps. Sometimes the initial roll price can be deceptive – roll price is often higher. As most performance wraps out-perform standard wraps with less than 30% of the thickness the actual cost to wrap a pallet is much lower.
Where standard wraps are used, performance wraps should be tested as quickly as possible. Once load stability is proven, cost saving is guaranteed.
Is a smaller hand wrap at 100mm wide. It requires a dispenser and is ideal for securing small boxes together or bundling awkward items. This type of hand wrap is available in both clear and black film.
Grip film is available in clear and black in and two specifications. It offers great puncture resistance and a high load retention.
The lightweight dispenser has an easy twist lock tension feature, allowing you to decide on the tension required to keep your goods secure. It also features a rapid roll change system, which can reduce packer downtime.
